To go along with the “Don’t Ask Me, Ask Barry” shirts I am looking for t-shirt ideas for other Giants players. Here are a few to get warmed up…
Pedro Feliz – What type of a swing is a bunt?
Mark Sweeny – There is nothing in my locker, seriously.
Russ Ortiz – The past two years NEVER HAPPENED.
Randy Winn – I am looking for my Mojo, anyone know where it is?
Rich Aurilia – I’m Back!
Brian Wilson - I was never in the Beach Boys! Stop asking!
Matt Cain – Yeah, I am that good.
Move Armando Benitez – I really don’t care if you need to outright release the guy, really. The man is a cancer in the clubhouse and throws teammates under the bus. I would make this my #1 priority during spring along with grooming Brian Wilson for the closer position.
Extend Omar Vizquel’s contract – The man still plays like he is in his late 20’s. His on base percentage is solid, he can steal a base or two and he has fun. I still remember last season when he busted out a San Diego Padre’s polo and aided in sweeping the infield on his day off (hilarious). Baseball needs more players like Omar and the Giants would be foolish to let him go.
Linden in the infield – Let’s face it, since J.T. the Giants haven’t had a long term solution for first base. I know most of you are looking at this idea the same way my dog looks at the water heater when it clicks on in the morning, however it is not a half bad idea. This does stem partially from hearing K-Frand is taking fly balls to give him more of a chance for playing time in his utility roll. Linden is athletic and young enough to learn a new position and if his on base percentage continues to climb he might be able to land as an every day player in the infield for a while in orange and black.
The list can go on but I want to hear your thoughts:

Closure NOT Closer!!
All of this Armando Benitez spin work must be keeping the Giants PR folks busy. I don’t care if he is overweight, or his knees are healthy or about his potentially bruised ego about not being handed the closer roll before Spring Training.
No amount of rehab, surgery or bullpen sessions will fix the man’s attitude. We are talking about the same guy who threw his entire team under the bus after a blown save, saying “I have played on better teams.” It is not so much his performance in the prior season but how he handled himself after the games and how he insulted the franchise and his teammates.
PLEASE SEND HIM PACKING. Trade him to Florida, get a prospect or two and eat some of the salary. Florida has proven to have a great depth in their position player prospects which the Giants lack. Heck, I would trade Armando to Budweiser for the perk of lowering beer prices at the stadium a few dollars.
I think for the remainder of Armando’s Giants tenure Bruce Bochy and the remainder of the Giants staff should pull a Parcells – T.O. and refer to him as the player.
So no more I feel healthy, I am excited a out the season junk from Benitez. The only way he will get himself out of this hole which he dug for himself is to show up, healthy, say nothing to the media at all and pitch like he is being paid 9 plus million dollars… oh wait he is.

The Giants announced a six year extension to the man, the myth and the legend Jon Miller today and my immediate reaction was of sheer excitement. It may be that it is a rainy Friday morning In February but my ears are very thankful the Giants decided to keep Jon around for a while. I am especially looking forward to hearing him say, “here comes the 0-2 pitch from Zito… big looping curveball… and Kent swings right over the top for strike 3.”
Now does this mean the broadcast team will not need the services of current host of "The Rise Guys" show on KHTK-1140 AM in Sacramento F. P. Santangelo? I mean don’t get me wrong I loves me a little F.P. color commentating as much as the next guy, especially when he goes into tangents on air about his baseball career, which make about as much sense as a monologue in a Schwarzenegger movie.
I want to hear from YOU! Since this blog is new, and part of me is really curious to see if anyone is actually reading it, let’s hear who your favorite and least favorite Giants broadcasters are.
Here is a cheat sheet with most of the voices, past and present, of the San Francisco Giants.

Infield of dreams (or at least not nightmares)
How good would Mark Teixeria look in a Giants uniform? Teixeria is eligible for free agency in 2008 and it would be a perfect time for the Giants to sign him to a long term deal.
With Teixeria holding down first base we can wave bye-bye to Pedro and move Auirilia to third base (or even start K-Frand if he comes into his own as a backup in ’07).
An infield of Auirilia, Vizquel, Durham and Teixeria does not look half bad.
Well, at least we can see how Teixeria hits in the park when he plays in the ’07 all star game.

Really Jeff... Really?
Ok, so what is going through the mind of Jeff Weaver, or as I like to refer to him as Shaggy. The man has a lifetime ERA of 5.75 and is thinking of taking a one year contract because and I quote FoxNews.com “Weaver, 30, is declining to pursue a two-year deal because of his desire to re-enter the free-agent market after next season, according to a source close to the negotiations.” Does this guy not remember his ERA was over 6 in June and he was released from the Angels for of all people his younger brother to join the roster? If I was his agent I would negotiate the longest contract I could with the most guaranteed money I could get. The man has 86 wins an 101 losses lifetime with 13 complete games in his 8 year career. Take all the money you can Jeff! This is a pitchers market for crying out loud. Wanting to re-enter the free agent pool next year is going to be tough when people forget what you did in the postseason and remember your 2007 ERA of over 10 and eventual release from whatever team is still watching their TiVo highlights of the World Series and does not remember any of the past 7 years prior. Whatever Jeff Weaver is on I want 5 of them.
